Looking at just what’s available on the market these days, you may find it rather complicated and even intimidating trying to choose a pull up bar that’s right for you. Some are cheap and compact, others are almost mini gyms for all your upper body workout needs. To make things easier though for you we thought it would be helpful to give you what we think is a guide to best pull up bars. In the following post we look at the different types available and what is good about each particular kind of pull up bar.
The reason it is difficult to actually say what the best pull up bar out of the products available on the market is because what is good for one person, may not be so good for another person. We all have different heights, so someone that is very tall will find that a free standing pull up bar is not suitable because they don’t make them tall enough. Whereas a wall mounted pull bar may be set too high for a shorter person. This is why we will look at the different types below, so you understand your options better.
Doorway Pull Up Bar
This is the most simple and easiest to use version of a pull up bar you can purchase on the market. You attach the bar t your door frame and hang it to allow you to do pull ups. The great thing about this kind of pull bar is that it is supported by the door frame and is easy to install and move to store away.
Free Stranding Pull Up Bar
With a free standing pull up bar, it is like buying a compact and versatile piece of gym apparatus. As well as pull ups, you can do additional exercises such as dips and sit ups and it can be used to help you have a full body workout. Perhaps the most obvious and biggest disadvantage to a free standing unit however is its actual size. You need a reasonable amount of space to store it somewhere and as they are troublesome to dismantle between uses, you need to have somewhere you can store it fully set up.
Wall Mounted Pull Up Bar
Instead of a door frame, a wall mounted pull up bar as its name suggests is screwed and attached directly to a wall. One of the biggest advantages of this type of bar is the versatility in heigh it offers you. It is very easy to choose a higher height or a shorter height, depending on what you need and would like. The main problem with this type of pull up bar is that because it will be a permanent fixture on your wall and used on a daily basis, taking your and other people in your home’s weight, you need to have a solid, brick wall to screw it into so it will remain there and not fall off or damage your property.
