The First Step
When you are about to start on a journey, the hardest part is the first step. This rings very true in the case of wanting to get fit, changing your lifestyle, eating different foods and recognizing that a healthy body will do wonders for your mind. When somebody suggests that they would like to join a gym and would you be interested, your initial thoughts of “What a great idea” can turn to jelly legs when the time actually comes around to go there and pay the first month’s fee.
Find a Way to Get Started
I had a friend, he was undoubtedly obese. He weighed in a 120 kg and was just 5’4”. He rang me one day and said he wanted to lose a bit of weight (good idea!) and was thinking of going swimming three times a week. However, he needed some motivation and asked if I could help him by going with him. What can you say? The guy is a friend and he is reaching out to you. Of course, I said yes.
Our Aim
Here at the Fitness Lounge, we are ready to help you take the first step. The only motivation you will need is to take that first step and join us. I promise that after deciding to start, I will be able to provide all the push you will need to keep moving forward. Once you are in my clutches (insert evil laugh!) I will take you, step by step, through an introductory program that isn’t going to kill you. It will, however, cure you! I guarantee it.
Get Ready!
We will assess your fitness level. You may have a good idea of just how fit you are, but being wrong about that will start you on the wrong path.
Pulse rate?
How long to walk 2 km?
How far can you reach towards your toes while sitting?
How many push-ups can you do?
What is your waist measurement?
What is your body mass index?
Get Set!
After those preliminaries, I’ll set you a fitness program. Something not so hard that it becomes a problem to do a little bit each day. It will be a balanced routine based on what level of fitness YOU want to achieve. You can do this at your own pace. Please let me know what, if any, medical conditions you have so that I can take these into consideration when setting the program. This plan will be written down for you so you can mark off activities that you have completed. If there is any equipment needed, and you are not going to be at the gym, then you need to purchase these items before you start.
Go!
The program will enable you to start slowly and build up gradually. Don’ exercise to the point of exhaustion. A little bit each day is the way to go. Don’t forget to listen to your body if it’s telling you to ease up.
Doesn’t sound too hard does it? Want to try? Call me.
