If you are a fitness fanatic and also a lover of technology, there is no time better than now to be alive. Since tech gadgets and gizmos have continued to become more compact and portable, they have been used in a variety of different ways to help improve and enhance exercise and fitness activity. To help you search through the thousands of different products out there, we’ve decided to highlight some of our favourites.
FitBit
When the FitBit first became popular, it would have been easy to write it off as merely a gimmick. However, you can’t argue with the activity tracker’s popularity. What makes the FitBit so good is that it has such a simple concept – it’s an activity tracker that will assess the number of steps you walk, how much fat burning exercise you do and connects easily to a well-designed and laid out app area on your phone – done well. It is not nearly as fancy as one of the many smart watches available out there, but if you are just looking to keep a track of important metrics when you work out, this is perfect.
Waterproof Headphones
It is really surprising to think that given swimming is an incredibly popular area of fitness that it really doesn’t have the same variety of different tech to help improve it. Although that is down to the fact that water and electronics are not very good friends, there have been some great developments recently. These developments come in the form of waterproof headphones. Music, for many people, is a great motivator when they are working out, but even if you prefer to listen to audiobooks and podcasts, now you can, even when you are swimming 20 lengths in the local pool.
GoPro
Okay, this is probably more interesting for those fitness fanatics that participate in more extreme physical activities like trail running, mountain biking and mountain climbers, the GoPro still deserves a mention. This really has become the go-to choice for anyone looking to document their activities. Most models are shock proof and waterproof to an extent and are incredibly easy to use.
Upright Go
This is a curious piece of tech that is gaining popularity. Essentially it is a fitness tracker or sorts that attaches to your back and can help you improve your posture. Posture is obviously important in general, but especially when it comes to exercise – as it helps you to perform activities safely and most effectively to benefit from them.
Smart Watches
When you think of smart watches, you probably think of the Apple Watch and the Samsung Galaxy Watch. Although these are undoubtedly the best of the best and worth every penny, they are not the most easily affordable for everyone. However, there are lots of cheaper options out there. You may have to compromise on not having access to quite as many functions and features, but many cheap smart watches do all the basics.
