I was thinking to myself the other day, just when did this craze for fitness and health start becoming popular. It was well before my time, that’s for sure, but to put my finger on the exact period of time is a little harder. In the early 80’s (or was it the late 70’s) there was a song by Olivia Newton-John called ‘Let’s Get Physical and she was dressed like that early TV fitness guru Richard Simmons with a headband and lycra tights and some crazy aerobics. I think there was a general awareness though, well before that.
It doesn’t matter when it started, these days it’s simply my life and I can’t even imagine how I would feel if I was inactive, overweight and eating the wrong foods. At the gym where I work we have installed a number of new apps that will help our customers monitor things like blood pressure and heart rate during workouts. Many gym members have already got a few of their own personal apps that do similar things, but it’s a responsible attitude to take by the establishment to make sure our clients are never at physical risk.
And the risk is what it’s all about. I am the personal trainer for a client who works as an ios developer and the way the app market is heading these days, he keeps pretty busy. I’m not sure whether he is one of the stars at this particular company but he sure is switched on when he gets to talking about any new developments that are going to hit the market. By that I don’t mean he is letting me know anything about personal clients or what the new developments are, I mean a general rundown of where the industry is heading. Most of these companies that are dealing in new technology or have a new invention, whatever, about to hit the market, have specific privacy policies that protect their clients. In the competitive world of app development this would have to be an important factor, that’s for sure. If you’re thinking about getting an app developed, this hyperlink will ease your mind about privacy policies that are usually standard in the industry.
One of the better apps o the market these days is one called MyBehavior. It’s a great help for a personal trainer like me if his client uses this app because it tells me when the person is active and when he is stationary, as well as what he is eating. In the never ending crusade for fitness, your habits are the things that are most difficult to change. Why? Simply because it’s a habit and you are probably not even aware that you are doing it constantly. MyBehavior will give the user a list of activities and food suggestions each day along with details about calorie burn if you follow the advice. Simple and effective.
